Hey you guys? My foot hurts.

Kind of a lot, which is why a) I haven’t run (or posted) all week, b) it warrants a post unto itself and c) you get this creepy picture of my toes.

Monday and Tuesday, I was out of running commission because I had two early morning appointments, and vision spots interspersed with migraine. Fantastic. By Tuesday evening, I remedied these issues with an evening of lobster, mussels, sparkling wine and blondie sundaes with some of my very favorite women. Mischief managed.

Wednesday, I awoke to a pain in my heel – as if I spent too long standing on hard floors in stilettos, which I most certainly did not. Not in the past few days, anyway. It persisted through yesterday, aggravated by the fact that I’m very much a heel-striker when I walk. I’ve tried to avoid heels at work, and stay off it as much as possible.

Last night, I woke up aware of the fact that the dull pain when I stand on my heel had morphed into a cramp of sorts. This morning, we’re back to a dull ache when I stand on it, as if I bruised it somehow. (I can’t for the life of me imagine how or when I might have done such a thing.)

I’m pondering a short run today, mostly out of curiosity – since I’m a mid-foot striker, I’m not entirely sure that my foot will actually hurt me when I’m running. I’d like to find out before I start panicking.

My body really needs to pull itself together; we’ve got a marathon to run in less than 10 days.
